Troubleshooting Steps for Not Receiving Calls on Voiply

If you can make calls but cannot receive them, there are several possible causes. This guide walks you through the most common reasons and how to resolve them.

Common Reasons & Solutions

1. Porting Process in Progress

If you recently switched to Voiply and are porting your number:

  • What’s happening: During porting, your number is still with your previous provider. This means you may not receive calls through your Voiply adapter yet.

  • Porting timeline: Number porting typically takes 5–7 business days to complete.

  • Solution:

    • Keep using your current provider’s setup until porting is finished.

    • Once porting is finalized, you’ll receive a notification from Voiply, and your number will be fully active for incoming and outgoing calls.

2. Incorrect Settings or Do Not Disturb (DND)

Improper settings or DND mode can block incoming calls.

  • What’s happening: Calls may be routed to voicemail, fail to connect, or not ring.

  • Solution:

    • Log in to your Voiply Portal.

    • Check your Call Forwarding and Routing settings.

    • Make sure Do Not Disturb is turned off both in your portal and on your phone.

    • Save and apply any changes.

3. Network or Internet Issues

A weak or unstable internet connection may prevent calls from coming through.

  • What’s happening: If your Voiply adapter isn’t connected properly, incoming calls won’t reach your phone.

  • Solution:

    • Ensure the adapter is securely connected to your router and powered on.

    • Restart your modem, router, and adapter to refresh the connection.

    • Check your internet connection for stability.

4. Temporary Number Assigned

If you were given a temporary number during porting:

  • What’s happening: Calls may be routed to your temporary number until porting is complete.

  • Solution:

    • Ask callers to use the temporary number provided.

    • Once porting is done (5–7 business days), your original number will work again.

5. Dialing Format

Sometimes callers may not be using the correct format.

  • Solution:

    • Confirm that they are dialing your full 10-digit number, including the area code.

6. Hardware Issues

Faulty or improperly connected hardware can block incoming calls.

  • What’s happening: A damaged phone, adapter, or loose cable may cause problems.

  • Solution:

    • Double-check that all cables are secure and undamaged.

    • Test your adapter with a different phone to rule out hardware issues.

When to Contact Support

If you’ve tried all the above steps and still cannot receive calls:

  • Contact Voiply Support for further assistance.

  • Be ready to provide details such as:

    • When the issue started.

    • Any error messages you’ve seen.

Tip: Most incoming call issues are resolved by checking your settings, confirming your adapter is connected, or waiting for the 5–7 business day porting process to complete.
