Making international calls with Voiply is simple once you know the format. This article walks you through how to dial and what to expect when you call.
Before You Call: Your International PIN
When you make an international call, you will hear a prompt asking you to enter a PIN. Your international PIN is the same as your voicemail PIN, so no need to set up a separate one.
If you do not know your voicemail PIN or need to reset it, an Office Manager on your account can update it in the Voiply Business Portal under Users > Voicemail > Change Voicemail PIN. For full steps, visit: How to Reset the Voicemail PIN
How to Make an International Call
Use this dialing format: 011 + Country Code + Area Code + Phone Number
Step 1: Dial 011 This is the International Direct Dialing (IDD) code for the U.S. It tells your phone that the next number you dial is outside the country.
Step 2: Enter the country code Country codes are 1 to 3 digits. For example, Australia is 61 and the UK is 44. Some countries share a code, like the U.S., Canada, and most of the Caribbean, which all use 1.
Calling a mobile number in Mexico? Dial 52 (country code) + 1 + the local number.
Step 3: Enter the city or area code (if applicable) This is usually included when someone gives you their number. If it is not, ask the person directly. Do not assume based on their location since area codes do not always match where someone currently lives.
Step 4: Dial the rest of the phone number International numbers may have more or fewer digits than a standard U.S. number. If the number starts with a 0, skip it. That leading zero is used for domestic calls within that country and should not be dialed internationally.
Step 5: Press call and enter your PIN when prompted After dialing, you will hear a prompt asking for your PIN. Enter your voicemail PIN to connect the call.
Example: To call the British Museum in London, you would dial: 011 44 20 7323 8299
Good to Know
- Voiply has a 60-minute limit per international call. Calls will automatically disconnect after this time. This is a global setting and cannot be changed.
