Number Parking – Announcement vs. Voicemail to Email
When you park your number with Voiply, you can choose how callers are handled. You have two options: Announcement or Voicemail to Email.
What is the Announcement feature?
-
Plays a custom message when someone calls your parked number.
-
You can use a pre-written message, type your own, or upload a recording.
-
After the message finishes, the call ends — callers cannot leave a voicemail.
Sample Announcement:
“Thank you for calling Greenfield Dental. Our office is closed today, Tuesday, October 1st. Please call back during our regular business hours, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thank you.”
This is best if you want to share details like hours, directions, or a quick update.
What is the Voicemail to Email feature?
-
Instead of playing an announcement, the system plays your voicemail greeting.
-
Callers can then leave a voicemail.
-
The voicemail is sent to your email as both a recording and a text transcription.
-
You can also receive an SMS alert for new voicemail messages.
Sample Voicemail Greeting:
“Hello, you’ve reached Greenfield Dental. We’re unable to take your call right now. Please leave your name, number, and a brief message, and we’ll return your call as soon as possible. Thank you.”
This is best if you want to collect messages from callers and follow up later.
Can I use both at the same time?
No. Only one feature can be active at a time.
-
If you turn on Announcement, callers will hear your message and then the call will end. They cannot leave a voicemail, and you will not get an email.
-
If you turn on Voicemail to Email, the system will play your voicemail greeting instead of an announcement, and callers can leave a message that is sent to your email.
Think of it like a light switch — you can turn on either Announcement or Voicemail to Email, but never both together.
How do I change my settings?
You can log in to your Voiply Customer Portal anytime to switch between Announcement and Voicemail to Email. Just edit your parked number settings and activate the option you want.
✨ Tip: You can switch back and forth whenever you need — just remember, only one feature works at a time.
