Troubleshooting: Cannot Receive Calls

If you’re experiencing an issue where you can call out but cannot receive calls, here are some common reasons and solutions to help you resolve the problem.

1. Porting Process in Progress

If you’ve recently switched to Voiply and are porting your existing phone number:
What’s happening? During the porting process, you may be unable to receive incoming calls if your phone is connected to the Voiply adapter. This is because the number is still with your previous provider.
Solution:

  • Continue using your current phone provider’s setup until the porting is complete to avoid missing calls.
  • Once the porting process is finalized, you will receive a notification from Voiply confirming completion, and you’ll be able to make and receive calls seamlessly.

2. Incorrect Settings or Do Not Disturb (DND) Mode

Improper call forwarding, routing settings, or enabled Do Not Disturb mode can block incoming calls.
What’s happening? Calls may be routed to voicemail, fail to connect, or not ring through due to DND or incorrect login settings.
Solution:

  • Verify your Call Forwarding and Routing settings and update them as needed.
  • Check your phone and Voiply settings to ensure Do Not Disturb is disabled.
  • Save and apply any changes.

3. Network or Internet Issues

A poor internet connection can interrupt incoming calls.
What’s happening? If the Voiply adapter is not properly connected to the internet, incoming calls won’t reach your device.
Solution:

  • Ensure your Voiply adapter is securely connected to your router and powered on.
  • Check your internet connection for stability.
  • Restart your modem, router, and Voiply adapter if needed.

4. Temporary Number Assigned

If you’re using a temporary number during the porting process:
What’s happening? Incoming calls may be routed to your temporary number until porting is complete.
Solution:

  • Inform callers to use the temporary number provided by Voiply.
  • Once porting is complete, your original number will function normally.

5. Hardware Issues

Problems with your phone or Voiply adapter could also affect incoming calls.
What’s happening? Damaged hardware or improper setup may block calls.
Solution:

  • Check that your phone and adapter are functioning correctly.
  • Ensure all cables are securely connected and undamaged.
  • Try using a different phone with the adapter to test.
